Chapter Meeting: Brodiaea and Triteleia by Vince Scheidt
Celebrate California Native Plant Month with a special chapter meeting talk by CNPS Vice President Vince Scheidt.
April brings lots of wildflowers, and Vince will lead us on a whirlwind tour of the fascinating little geophytes Brodiaea and Triteleia. California is a biodiversity hotspot for these genera, with about 19 species of Brodiaea and 15 species of Triteleia. San Diego is blessed with five species of Brodiaea and possibly one species of Triteleia.
Vince will talk about the natural history of these species, focusing on local plants and propagation secrets we all should know.
About the speaker
Vince Scheidt has been an active member of CNPS since 1980 and has contributed for decades to rare plant studies, endangered species work, and native plant conservation in Southern California. He holds an M.A. in Biology and runs a small environmental consulting firm in San Diego specializing in biological studies and endangered species surveys.
He is especially interested in propagating native plants, including rare Dudleya species, and maintains a diverse native plant garden filled with uncommon species. Vince has also been closely involved in the chapter’s work at the Miramar Vernal Pool Preserve, one of CNPS San Diego’s important local restoration and stewardship projects.

Casa del Prado, Room 101 (Balboa Park) — located across Village Place from the San Diego Natural History Museum (NAT), in the Casa del Prado Inner Courtyard.
Chapter meetings are free and open to the public. Everyone with a love for wild places, biodiversity, and community is welcome.
