Learn, Swap & Grow: Native Plant Garden Gathering

April 25 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Celebrate California Native Plant Month at our Learning Garden in Bird Park.

Join us for a relaxed morning at Bird Park with time to enjoy the garden, connect with fellow plant lovers, and celebrate California Native Plant Month together.

What to Expect:

● explore the Bird Park Learning Garden
● a short talk by Christine Hoey: Creating Container Native Plant Gardens
● a native plant and seed exchange
● children’s activities, including a scavenger hunt and nature-inspired coloring
● potluck brunch in the garden

April is California Native Plant Month—a time to notice what is blooming, fluttering, and quietly thriving all around us. Birds move through the canopy, monarch butterflies drift from bloom to bloom, and lizards warm themselves in the sun—reminding us how much life native plants support when we make space for them.

Christine Hoey will share ideas for creating container native plant gardens. Wherever you live, even a single pot can become a small habitat—alive with color, movement, and discovery.

Children are especially welcome and will have their own ways to explore the garden’s living stories.

What to Bring:

● a potluck dish to share
● native plants or seeds to exchange
● Folding chair, hat, sunscreen and water bottle

To help us estimate attendance and coordinate ridesharing, please sign up here: California Native Plant Month Brunch – Plant & Seed Exchange.

Early setup volunteers are welcome at 8:00 am—thank you for helping bring the morning to life.
