February Chapter Meeting – Ferns and Lycophytes of San Diego County

February 17 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Presented by Jon P. Rebman, Ph.D., Curator and Chair of Botany, San Diego Natural History Museum

After many long years of waiting, Jon Rebman and Annette Winner (a long-term science volunteer in Botany) have published Ferns and Lycophytes of San Diego County. This field guide includes descriptions, identification keys, local natural history information, and a color plate for each species showing key characters used to recognize and distinguish our regional ferns and lycophytes. The book covers 49 species known from San Diego County, plus 17 species that could occur here because they are found just north or south of the county but have not yet been documented locally. This publication is part of the Museum’s journal series, Proceedings of the San Diego Society of Natural History.

The field guide will be available for purchase at the meeting, and copies may be signed by Dr. Rebman.
