Why the Garden Tour Matters

The San Diego Native Garden Tour is one of the largest public education events on native plants in the region, drawing more than 1,000 visitors each year. Over two days, participants step into private gardens not normally open to the public, meet homeowners and designers, and discover practical solutions for creating water-wise, low-maintenance landscapes.

The result is inspiration that people bring back to their own yards and communities. What begins in a garden spreads outward, multiplying the impact of the tour long after the event ends.

Why Native Plants Matter

Native plants form the foundation of local ecosystems. They provide the food and habitat that sustain pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. They also help save water, cool neighborhoods, and build resilience in the face of climate change.

Without them, the biodiversity that makes San Diego unique cannot thrive. By highlighting native plants, the Garden Tour demonstrates how beauty, practicality, and ecological health come together in every landscape.

What Your Sponsorship Supports

Your sponsorship ensures that the Garden Tour remains a high-quality, accessible educational event for the San Diego community. It also extends the impact of the tour year-round through programs such as:

The Bird Park Teaching Garden in Balboa Park, where families and school groups learn about native plants.

Habitat restoration projects that bring degraded areas back to life.

Public outreach & education that connects people to the land, plants, and wildlife that sustain us all.

Together, these efforts inspire lasting change across neighborhoods and landscapes.

Sponsor Visibility & Benefits

Sponsorship gives you visibility during and beyond the tour. More than 1,000 visitors experience the event in person, while thousands more connect through our website, newsletter, and social media. Sponsors are also recognized in printed and digital tour materials, including the guidebook, signage, and outreach events.

By sponsoring the Garden Tour, you join a respected nonprofit active in San Diego since 1965. Your support highlights a shared commitment to sustainability, community, and the native plants that make our region unique.
